County Jail - Public and Professional Visitation (Guidelines and Schedule)

The last visit that will be registered prior to the facility scheduled lock down periods will occur at the following times:

Public Video Visitation:
10:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. (weekends)

Professional Video Visitation:
10:45 a.m. (after 10:30 in unit video only)
3:45 p.m. (after 3:30, in unit video only)
8:30 p.m. (weekends) (after 8:30 in unit video only)

All video visits will disconnect at the scheduled lockdown times.

Professional Non-contact Visitation:
Monday to Thursday 7:30 - 11:00 a.m. / 12:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Friday 7:30 - 11:00 a.m. / 12:30 - 4:00 p.m. / 5:30 - 9:00 p.m.
Saturday 5:30 - 9:00 p.m.
Sunday 7:30 - 11:00 a.m. / 12:30 - 4:00 p.m. / 5:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Public visitation guidelines:

1. All public visitation is completed utilizing video visitation.
2. Visitors are permitted to visit one (1) inmate per day
3. Visitors are restricted to two (2) visits per week (a week is Sunday through Saturday). The visitation log will be checked. Any attempts to visit in excess of twice per week may result in the loss of visitation privileges
4. No consecutive visits will be allowed for any inmate.
5. An additional 15 minutes visitation will be approved for visitors traveling from out of state on a case-by-case basis as availability of visitation booths allows. Out of state residence will be verified by review of a driver's license.
6. Two (2) visitors are allowed for each inmate during each visitation session
7. No unattended children (under 12 years of age) will be allowed in the public lobby
8. Juveniles (less than 18 years of age) are allowed to visit pursuant to the following requirements/restrictions:

• Juveniles must be accompanied by a visiting adult
• Juveniles are included in the two (2)-person limit for visitation.
• Photograph identification is not required, however, the juvenile must be entered into the detention management visitation program as a visitor.
• If a juvenile is disruptive, the adult and juvenile will be asked to leave the visitation area and/or public lobby.

    9. Appropriate attire is to be worn.

Professional visitation guidelines: Professional visitation is conducted utilizing video visitation, non-contact visitation, or contact visitation.

Professional visitors include attorneys, law enforcement officers, probation and parole agents, licensed private investigators, process servers, clergy [see Religious visitation guidelines], and social workers/case workers. Other occupations not listed will require a captain approval. If captain approval is not obtained, visits will be conducted as outlined in public visitation guidelines. Picture ID and professional credentials are required and, in some cases, additional documentation may be requested.

Inmates with morning court appearances will be transported to the Court Holding area at 7:30 a.m. and inmates with afternoon court appearances will be transported to the Court Holding area at 12:30 p.m. There are no professional visitation opportunities in the Court Holding area. Once inmates have been transported for court, access to these inmates will be denied.

Video visitation and non-contact visitation:
Video visitation is conducted daily on a first come, first served basis per the above public visitation schedule. Non-contact visitation is conducted Sunday to Friday on a first come, first served basis between the hours of 0730 and 1100; and 1230 and 1600.

Contact visitation:
Contact visitation is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. by appointment only and will be approved for trial preparation as needed, incidents where extensive review of discovery material is required, and other pre-approved exigent circumstances.

Contact visitation appointments may be made by contacting (262)548-7171 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments will not be accepted on county-identified holidays or furlough days. Appointments must be made at least one business day prior to the requested visitation date.

Professionals scheduled for a contact visit must arrive on time. Inmates will be returned to their housing unit if the professional visitor does not arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled appointment start time.

Monday through Friday:
7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (All visits must be concluded by 11:00 a.m.)
12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (All visits must be concluded by 4:00 p.m.)

Religious Professionals visitation:
Individual religious counseling or visits is restricted to use of professional video visitation outlined in the visitation schedule identified above.

Religious professionals may visit with inmates during normal public visitation hours; however, professional visitation accommodations will not be made during these visitation periods.

Inmate Account Deposits:

Money may be deposited into inmate accounts via U.S. mail (see information below) or utilizing the public lobby kiosk. The public lobby kiosk is available to access during normal visitation hours as identified above. Cash may be deposited, with the exception of $1.00 bills, as well as utilizing a credit card (Master Card or Visa) or debit card. The money is deposited immediately into the inmate's account and is available for use upon deposit. Deposits made utilizing the kiosk will result in a service fee to the kiosk vendor for each deposit as follows:

Cash deposit - $3.25 service fee (if $50.00 cash is deposited, inmate will receive $46.75 in their account); $500.00 limit
Credit/Debit Card deposit - $4.95 service fee (if $50.00 is charged to the credit card, inmate will receive $45.05 in their account); $100.00 limit

The Waukesha County Jail will not accept inmate funds addressed to a specific inmate. Inmate funds are to be mailed separately from inmate personal mail. No cash or personal checks will be accepted. All inmate funds must be in the form of a certified check, cashier's check, or money order and be addressed to:

Once the funds have been received and posted to the inmate account, the inmate will receive a receipt for the transaction.

The other option available to make a deposit on an inmate's account, in addition to mailing funds for an inmate, is via SmartDeposit.

There is a fee associated with making a deposit on an inmate's account using SmartDeposit. The fee is determined by the company and is not set by the Waukesha County Jail.

Bail Posting:
During normal business hours, bail set in a Waukesha County Criminal/Traffic Court may be posted in the Waukesha County Courthouse, Business Center, Room 112. All other bail postings will be handled through the Sheriff's Department. The Department accepts cash, money orders, cashier's checks, Visa, Discover and MasterCard.

Location and Directions to the Waukesha County Jail:
The Waukesha County Jail is located behind the Waukesha County Courthouse in the Law Enforcement Center at 515 West Moreland Boulevard in Waukesha Wisconsin.

Take I-94 and exit at highway "J" (also called 164). Turn south on highway J for approximately 2 miles until you reach W Moreland Blvd and turn right. The Waukesha County Courthouse will be on your immediate left hand side. Parking for the Courthouse and Jail is primarily in front of the Courthouse. Please be conscious of the various "90 minute" parking restrictions throughout the area.
