Our work
Our office independently investigates deaths based on Wisconsin State law. We do so to ensure the safety, health and welfare of our community. We investigate, document and medically evaluate reportable cases in a thorough, professional and sensitive manner.
Our goals
- To apply our knowledge and experience of death investigation and forensic pathology
- To perform complete and professional investigations
- To identify, document, interpret and apply scientific forensic information
- To clarify circumstances of deaths and determine their cause and manner
- To standardize, innovate and advance our profession
Investigations are also impactful in the following ways
- Litigation in civil and criminal cases
- Protection of public health and safety by identifying contagious diseases
- Identification of environmental hazards at home or work and in public places
- Information tracking of local trends in different types of deaths. Such as homicides, suicides, motor vehicle crashes and drug and alcohol related fatalities
