Foreclosure is a legal process where a creditor takes steps to reclaim its collateral. In a residential mortgage foreclosure, the bank or lender proceeds through the legal process to reclaim the home of the borrower. In most instances, the process has begun because the borrower has failed to make one or more mortgage payments.
The Waukesha County Court has partnered with Metro Milwaukee Foreclosure Mediation to offer the foreclosure mediation program. It is funded in part by the Wisconsin Department of Justice. This program may assist both borrowers and lenders in reaching a better result than that which would occur at the end of the legal process.
