Waukesha County

Note:
The County also regulates commercial, industrial, and quarry operations as well as public and institutional uses. Please contact our office for an explanation of these regulations prior to operating these types of uses within the County's zoning jurisdiction (see jurisdiction FAQ).

The above information relates to the County's zoning ordinances only. The Shoreland and Floodland Ordinance generally applies to lands in unincorporated Townships within 1,000 feet of a lake and 300 feet of a river or stream, or the 100 year floodplain, whichever is greater. In addition to the objectives of the Zoning Code, the Shoreland Ordinance seeks to prevent water pollution and protect or improve the quality of lakes and streams.

Please check with your local Town to determine if they have other regulations or procedures that may apply Municipal Contacts.

In the event it is determined there is a violation of the County's ordinances, the property owner will be asked to correct the violation or face the penalties outlined in the ordinances, including the issuance of citations.
