Parent Education with In-home Coaching

Hanen "Let's Talk" Class:
Work with a Speech Language Pathologist to understand communication development in young children and application of strategies that will facilitate your child's communication skills.

Infant Massage:
Work one on one with an occupational therapist to learn massage strokes. Massage has many benefits, and will offer you an opportunity to create a strong bond with your child. Classes can be scheduled for small groups of 4-8 children and caregivers, call Linda Wetzel at 262-548-7333 for information.

YogaBabies:
Join us for this three-session and one home visit class taught by a physical therapist. Yoga means to "yoke" or join the mind, body, and sprit and has many positive effects on the body. Learn yoga techniques with your baby and improve your child's ability to accept tough, movement, sound and exercise more readily. One or both parents/caregivers are encouraged to attend to learn infant yoga poses that are tailored to the needs of your child, call Linda Wetzel at 262-548-7333 for information.

Bravado Challenge
The LSS annual fundraiser is in its 11th year. Patricipate in a fun day of running, biking, and canoeing all to help a good cause - the children and families in the Birth to Three program. For details and registration information visit http://bravadochallenge.org

Accessing Community Learning Opportunities

Waukesha County has many community organizations that offer activities and learning opportunities for young children.

Parent's Place:
Parent's Place in Waukesha offeres many classes and events for parents and families. New this year is a structured playgroup offerend every Wednesday morning from 9:30-11:00 AM. A parent facilitator will actively involve parents and chidlren in music, storybooks, signing, movement and dance.

Country Springs:
The Country Springs Water park in Waukesha offers a Special Needs Swim on select Mondays from 4-6 PM. The cost is $5.50 per person. This rate is applicable for special needs individuals and up to two others (preferably a parent and/or Therapist). Additional family members are $7.50 per person.

St. Luke's Lutheran Church Two-Year-Old "First Steps to Preschool" Classes:
St. Luke's preschool program offers a special adult and child experience, meeting weekly or biweekly, from September through May, from 9:00-11:00 AM. These classes provide children with a group experience that is meant to be a positive, comfortable, and FUN "first" school experience for both adult and child. Wednesday or Thursday classes are offered. Visit the church website for more information.

Atonement Lutheran Church "Little Steps Together" Classes for Two & Three Year Olds:
These new classes offered through Atonement classes offer the opportunity for an adult and child to partner with a teacher in nurturing and training the child's social, emotional, and spiritual growth. The classes encourage the development of positive values, self-concept, social skills, and attitude toward learning in a loving, safe, small group environment. Classes are held on Thursday. The YMCA at Pabst Farms:
The YMCA at Pabst Farms in Oconomowoc offers many Special Programs including adaptive aquatics, Special Olympics and sib shops.

Born Learning Trail:
Come and play on the new Born Learning Trail! The Born Learning Trail is the first of its kind in Waukesha County, located at Heyer Park in the City of Waukesha. The Born Learning Trail promotes fun and games which are important components of early childhood learning. This interactive trail, including activities such as pretend to move like an animal or walk like a duck or jump like a frog. Is your child staring or pointing at something? Ask, "What do you see?" The trail's theme of Watch? Stop? Learn? Play? encourages parents and caregivers to follow the child's lead, building the child's curiosity and confidence, and reinforcing the learning already underway.

Swimtastic:
Swimtastic is located at 900 Tesch Court in Waukesha is offering a free infant and toddler class from 3:30-4:30 PM.
