Termination of Parental Rights

Termination of parental rights (TPR) means that all rights, powers, privileges, immunities, duties and obligations existing between parent and child are permanently severed, pursuant to a court order. Parental rights may be terminated either voluntarily or involuntarily.

SERVICE

The petitioner is responsible for service and/or notice.  For additional information, please consult Wisconsin Statutes 48.42(2) Who Must Be Summoned, 48.42(2g) Notice Required, 48.42(3) Contents of Summons and 48.42(4)(a) Manner of Serving Summons and Petition.  An Affidavit of Service (JD-1825), or Proof of Publication, must be filed with the court no later than 48 hours prior to the hearing.
