Mukwonago Park's Large and Small Breed Dog Exercise Areas are OPEN

Nashotah Park's Large and Small Breed Dog Exercise Areas are OPEN.

Small Breed Area is for dogs 20 inches (at shoulder height) and under ONLY.

Large Breed Area is for dogs over 20 inches (at shoulder height) and small breed dogs - at their own risk.

Dog Exercise Areas

The Waukesha County Park System operates three off-leash Dog Exercise Areas (DEA) at the following parks:

  • Minooka Park in Waukesha
  • Nashotah Park in Nashotah
  • Mukwonago Park (Dog Exercise area entrance is located at W325 S9925 Beulah Rd. in Mukwonago)



  • NO ATTENDANT ON DUTY: Dog owners are legally and financially liable for injuries or damages caused by their dog(s).
  • All dogs must be legally licensed and vaccinated. Dogs are required to wear visible, municipal license and I.D. tag.
  • Any dog exhibiting aggressive behavior must be removed immediately.
  • No more than 3 dogs per handler. Handlers shall have voice control of their dog(s) at all times.
  • Handlers are responsible for removal and disposal of their dog's feces.
  • No puppies under 4 months of age. Dogs in heat are not allowed.
  • Dogs must be kept on a 6 ft. leash until inside the gated entry. Please make sure gate is closed behind you after entering or exiting. Handlers must have in their immediate possession a leash for each dog they are responsible for within the exercise area.
  • Food/treats (human or pet), dog chews, and rawhide are not allowed.

Additional Information:

  • Use of Dog Exercise Areas is included in your purchase of a Park Entrance permit (daily and annual).
  • Hours: Sunrise to 10 pm year round.
  • Dogs are welcome at all Waukesha County Parks (sorry, no dogs allowed at Retzer Nature Center). It is required that dogs are licensed and leashed; owners must properly dispose of pet waste.
  • Dogs at large and untagged are subject to impoundment and/or penalties (174.042). A dog license is required for the keeping of any dog older than five months of age (174.07). Contact your local municipal clerk’s office for more info.
