Jail Division

One of the primary duties of the Office of the Sheriff is the management of the jail. The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department operates the County Jail, a 481-bed maximum security facility consisting of both direct supervision and remote supervision housing pods. Th Jail houses male and female inmates, including both pre-trial and sentenced individuals. In addition, the Sheriff's Department utilizes an electronic monitoring program for approved inmates eligible for Huber. 

Consistent with the Jail Division's mission statement to "safely and securely confine individuals in the least restrictive environment consistent with behavior, adjustment, special needs and severity of charges", the Jail Division maintains special programming to address inmate needs to include:

  • Adult basic education, GED and adult high school classes.
  • Career education and job-seeking skills.
  • Alcohol and other addiction education, programs and counseling.
  • Religious counseling, services and studies.
