Yearly health check-ups, visits to the dentist and regular oil changes for their cars are all activities people do to take care of what’s important to them. The Waukesha County Division of Environmental Health encourages private well owners to test wells annually or after modifying them in any way. Wells should also be tested when any change in taste, odor or appearance is noticed. You will need a water sample kit that includes a sterile bottle, detailed instructions for collecting the sample and a lab reporting slip. Our state-certified laboratory can analyze your water sample for bacteriological contamination and/or one or more chemical tests including nitrate, fluoride, hardness, chloride and iron. Private laboratories also provide these services.
