Programa de Nutricion para los Ancianos

SENIOR DINING

Senior Dining includes both Senior Dining Centers and home delivered meals. The program provides nutritious meals meeting one third of the recommended dietary allowance to persons 60 years of age and older, with emphasis placed on outreaching frail, isolated, homebound and disadvantaged older adults.

Senior Dining Centers are located at 7 sites throughout Waukesha County. In addition to a hot noon meal, the Senior Dining Centers provide nutrition education, health information and screening, outreach, and support to older adults and their families. Social and recreational activities are also provided at the dining center.

Senior Dining Centers are open to individuals age 60 or older and their spouse, regardless of their age. Limited government grants cover a portion of the meal costs. Confidential donations are accepted at each dining center. The suggested donation is $5.00. No eligible client will be denied a meal because of inability to contribute.

Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance. Call the dining center where you will eat between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. If the dining center is closed, call the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County (ADRC) at (262) 548-7826

Transportation to the dining centers may be available through the ADRC Shared-Fare Taxi and RideLine programs for $1.00 each way. This fare subsidy must be authorized in advance. Call the ADRC at (262) 548-7848 for more information.

HOME DELIVERED MEALS / MEALS ON WHEELS

The Home Delivered Meals program provides a hot noon meal delivered to frail and homebound older adults who are unable to prepare their own meal (and meet other qualifications). Meals are delivered between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Program participant must be present to accept the meal at delivery. The meals are delivered by volunteers who provide a daily wellness check for homebound individuals.

  • Application and Assessment
To apply for home delivered meals, call the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County (ADRC) at (262) 548-7848. Staff will ask for information needed to complete an application form. The ADRC will process the request and schedule an ADRC staff member to conduct an in-home assessment. The assessment provides information to determine if the person meets the eligibility requirements for meals to begin. The applicant will be notified once eligibility is determined.
  • Funding and Donations
Limited government funding covers a portion of the meal costs, and client donations go a long way to help maintain the meal program. At the time of the in-home assessment a suggested donation of $6.00 per meal will be discussed. A monthly donation statement will be mailed to the client indicating the approximate value of the meals served and a confidential donation can be mailed to the ADRC office. Client donations allow the ADRC to provide services at current levels. No eligible client will be denied service because of inability to contribute.
