Vaccinating children is confusing, now more than ever before. With conflicting views and mountains of misinformation passed along on various social media sites, parents find themselves questioning the necessity of obtaining vaccinations for their children. Parents attempt to determine what information is based on science and fact, rather than individual opinion. The vaccination for the human papillomavirus, or HPV, is one vaccine parents question. This vaccination has had bad press in recent months with false stories circulating; it is a vaccine used to prevent a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Parents do not want to imagine their children needing such a vaccine. No vaccine is without risk. Parents need to be aware of the threats; each parent should decide if the benefit outweighs the risk of this vaccine. Below are some links to reputable sources for scientific, factual information about the HPV vaccine.
