Education Programs


Waukesha County offers several types of public education programs on Bite Safety, Humane Animal Care Issues and How to Handle A Bite Case. Separate presentations are geared for schools, police departments and veterinary clinics.

Waukesha County Humane Program Course Descriptions

Animal Bite Prevention: Suitable for ages 5+. Focus of program is on animal awareness, animal body language, and making wise choices while interacting with animals. Uniformed Humane Officer presents this free, 50-minute PowerPoint presentation at your facility or ours. Available year-round: day & evening (including weekends) by appointment. Electricity and a clear wall for projection are required.

Humane Animal Education: Suitable for ages 13+. Focus of program is applying legal definitions of humane and cruel behavior as they relate to animals. Specific case studies show how humane officers apply the laws. Uniformed Humane Officer presents this free 50-minute PowerPoint presentation at your facility or ours. Available year-round: day & evening (including weekends) by appointment. Electricity and a clear wall for projection are required.

Humane Animal Careers: Suitable for ages 8+. This program explores various careers that involve animals, and preparation required for such careers. Uniformed Humane Officer presents this free 25-minute PowerPoint presentation at your facility or ours. Available year-round: day & evening (including weekends) by appointment. Electricity and a clear wall for projection are required.

Rabies Prevention: This program is designed for Waukesha County area veterinary clinic staff. It provides an in-depth discussion of Rabies as a public health concern. The materials covered include recognizing potential exposures among clients, their pets, and veterinary staff. Bite reports, quarantines, specimen collection, specimen integrity, and the lab submission process are all covered. Responsibility for various costs is also explained. This free, 40-minute program can be done in PowerPoint or small group format. It is available year-round: day & evening (including weekends) by appointment.
