Important Updates: ADRC Shared-Fare Taxi Program

To align with grant requirements while ensuring consistent service delivery, Waukesha County has updated the ADRC Shared-Fare Taxi Program. We've contracted with new local transportation providers to improve coverage, reliability, and ride availability throughout Waukesha County. Here's what's changing starting January 1, 2026.

New Service Structure

  • Service Quadrants: The County is now divided into four quadrants. Multiple providers are assigned to each, ensuring consistent service and more ride options. View providers by quadrant here.

  • Increased Rider Discount: $9.00 off per one-way trip.
  • Low-Cost Rides to ADRC Dining Sites: $2.00 per one-way trip.

The RideLine Program is available to Waukesha County residents who are non/limited-drivers and 60 years of age or older, or age 18-59 with a disability designation who are non-ambulatory and using a wheelchair or scooter. Individuals must complete an Application, which includes a Fare Determination Form and a Disability Designation Form, and be certified by the ADRC before using the program.

Service provided for trips within Waukesha County. Out of County trips must be pre-approved and may be available to parts of Milwaukee County for medical services only if service is not duplicated in Waukesha County.

Rates

Fares will be based on the RideLine Fare Determination Form you complete when applying. Your fare will be determined by your income, ensuring it’s tailored to your situation.

Availability

Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to ensure availability. For the best chance of securing your preferred date and time, we recommend allowing additional time when making your request

Oconomowoc Silver Streak, Inc. – Monday thru Friday 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM

WI Transportation – Monday thru Friday 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Elmbrook New Berlin Senior Taxi – Monday thru Friday 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Saturdays 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Seniors on the Go – Monday thru Friday 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday by appointment only (office hours are 7-5, Monday thru Friday)

Ztrip – 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, 7 days a week

The Shared-Fare Taxi Program is available to Waukesha County residents who are 60+, or under 60 with a disability designation, and are non/limited drivers. Participants must be able to enter and exit a vehicle with little to no assistance. To use the program, individuals must complete an application and be certified.

Rates (Starting January 1, 2026)

Rates are determined by the taxi provider. All eligible ride costs will be reduced by $9.00, covered by the ADRC.

Availability

Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. To ensure your preferred date and time, we recommend allowing extra time when making your request. Each taxi provider has its own scheduling policies, so please contact them directly for further details.

Reminder about Taxi ID Number vs Card

The program now uses a taxi ID number instead of a rider card. Once you've registered with the transportation company, your taxi ID number will be automatically remembered.

Transportation to dining centers may be available through the ADRC Shared-Fare Taxi and RideLine programs for a subsidized fare of $2.00 each way (starting January 1, 2026). Prior authorization is required for this price. For more information, please contact the ADRC at (262) 548-7848.

Up to $7,000 in funding (when finding is available) to help adults with electric/power wheelchairs or scooters modify their vehicles with a lift for easier transportation.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • be Waukesha County residents
  • aged 60+ OR ages 18-59 and identify as having a disability. 
  • the vehicle must be owned by the applicant or an immediate family member and must be approved by a contracted mobility provider for modification.
