Invasive Weeds – What can you do?

It is illegal to put any other yard waste e.g. leaves, branches, grass cuttings, etc. in landfills.

Steps for disposal

  1. Put them in a clear plastic bag

  2. Label bag "invasive plants- approved by WI DNR for landfilling"

  3. Set in your curbside garbage bin

Invasive weeds should not be composted. Home compost piles do not get hot enough for a long enough time to destroy the seeds of these plants!

For more information on handling invasive weeds, see the DNR website on Invasive Plants.
