An historic middle school was transformed into an apartment building offering 55 unique units. The project is financed through low-income housing tax credits and offers mostly affordable housing units. Waukesha County committed $161,000 in CDBG funds to Movin’ Out to help make this renovation possible for people with disabilities.
City Center at Deer Creek Apartments is a Section 42 tax credit property in New Berlin. The HOME Consortium committed $555,555 in CHDO funds to Movin’ Out, Inc, who partnered with the developer, MSP, to make 11 of the 102 family rental units available to people with disabilities.
This neighborhood revitalization focuses on offering affordable, energy efficient homes in one of the City of Waukesha’s oldest neighborhoods. There will be eight single-family homes and three two-family condominiums. The City of Waukesha partnered with Waukesha County to obtain a $904,000 HUD NSP grant to purchase the property, demolish the YWCA building, and prepare the land for development. For profit and nonprofit developers, including Habitat for Humanity, are building the houses.
