Updates: Hours, Access, and Services at Waukesha County

During the COVID-19 public health emergency, Waukesha County continues to make alternative arrangements to “in-person services” usually available at Waukesha County Courthouse, Waukesha County Administration Center, and other Waukesha County facilities.

Child Support (AC)

For customer service: Phone 414-615-2586 or email childsupportcustomerservice@waukeshacounty.gov. As of April 9, in-person service is no longer available.

To drop off: Applications for services, other documents, and payments for Child Support division are to be deposited in the drop box located inside the main entrance of Waukesha County Courthouse (just before the security screen). Thank you.


Circuit Courts (CH)

Clerk of Courts in-person services are available by appointment only. No walk-in services as of April 13, 2020. Phone us today to set an appointment (more info). Thank you.

Court filings and documents are accepted via US mail, fax, and Wisconsin Courts’ eFiling System. Drop off your filings and documents in the drop box located just inside the main entrance to Waukesha County Courthouse (more info). Drop-offs must include: 

1. Original Filing Document and appropriate number of copies
2. Self-addressed stamped envelope (only if return of filed stamped copies is requested)
3. Payment for filing fee by check, cashier’s check, or money order
4. Paying by card? Requesting a return phone call for more info? Then please include your name and phone number.

Collections (AC)

For all collections questions or to arrange a payment, please contact 262-548-7876 for assistance.

    • Making a payment via check: Checks, money orders, and/or cashier checks must have a “Pay to the Order” of the Waukesha County Collections Division and reference the account number or account name. Mail to:

Health & Human Services

NOTE: For the safety of those we serve as well as our HHS staff, the Department of Health & Human Services has implemented a screening process for any individual entering the Mental Health Center (MHC), Juvenile Center (JC), and Human Services Center (HSC) buildings. Prior to accessing the buildings, visitors will be asked a series of COVID-19 screening questions and have their temperature taken. Thank you.

Human Services Center (HSC)

    • Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) Information and Assistance Call Center remains open at 262-548-7848.
    • The in-person ADRC office is closed. No in-person home visits are conducted. Assessments are being completed via telephone.
    • Adult Protective Services are conducted via telephone and videoconferencing as much as possible. In-person investigations are continued for urgent needs.
    • Senior Dining Centers are closed. Home meal delivery continues with a one-time per week delivery of five meals. More info: 262-548-7848.
    • Children’s Long-Term Support Services and Birth to 3 services are only conducted via phone and video (telehealth) per Wisconsin DHS.
    • Community-based Services continue with limited capacity.
    • Economic Support Services are available over the phone or online. Walk-in services are limited.
    • Essential Services such as Adult Protective Services, Crisis Services, Child Welfare Services, and Youth Justice Services remain available by a combination of phone and video calls, and in-person contacts.
    • Genoa Pharmacy remains open. They are able to mail medications (and will deliver in emergencies). More info: 262-955-8811.
    • Health & Human Services Center will be open Mon/Weds/Thurs 10 am - 3 pm, and Tues/Fri 8:30 am - 3 pm.
    • Outpatient Mental Health & Substance Use Clinic has suspended seeing clients/patients face-to-face. The exception is a patient who needs a medication injection, who will be welcomed at Waukesha County Mental Health Center, 1501 Airport Rd, Waukesha. More info: 262-548-7666. Telehealth options are currently available for group and individual services.
    • Open Access (Intake Assessments) is still available. Clients may pick up the paperwork or find it online, and return forms in person to the Human Services Center or email them to Records Services. More info: 262-548-7666.
    • Public Health walk-in services are closed.
    • Records Services are available by phone at 262-548-7212 with limited walk-in services. Records requests are welcome via US mail, fax, or at the front desk of the Human Services Center. More process info: www.WaukeshaCounty.gov/HealthAndHumanServices/health-information/MedicalRecords. Note: If you are requesting to receive records via secure email, include email address as a receipt method in the completed authorization form. 
    • Senior Dining Sites are closed. Home meal delivery continues operation.
    • Teen Court is closed.
    • Veterans’ Services Office is closed. Services are being provided by phone, email, and US mail.
    • WIC services are closed. Services are being provided remotely or by phone at 1-800-540-3620 .

Mental Health Center (MHC)

    • Inpatient Mental Health Center has suspended visitations except for clergy, representatives of the court, and guardians.

Juvenile Center (JC)

    • Essential Services such as Juvenile Detention Services and Shelter Care services remain available with restrictions on visitors and access to buildings.
    • Juvenile Center visits will be non-contact visits.
    • Teen Court is closed.

Jail & Sheriff

Waukesha County Jail (WCJ) 
As of March 16, 2020, public visitation to the jail has been suspended. Inmates are encouraged to maintain contact with family and friends by phone: www.WaukeshaCounty.gov/jail-division

Sheriff's Department (LEC)
As of March 19, 2020, the following are suspended:

    • Courtesy preliminary breath tests (PBTs) for court services and Wisconsin Community Services program participants
    • Citizen ride-alongs
    • Community appearances and presentations
    • Citizens' Academy
    • Non-criminal ID processes occurring Wednesdays from 1-3 pm and Fridays 9-11 am
    • Coffee with a Cop on March 24
    • Jail Visitations
    • CCW classes
    • Eddie Eagle Gun Safe Program

Household Hazardous Waste At this time our vendor has temporarily suspended residential collections. Along with the vendor, we will use guidelines set by Governor Evers for evaluating when these sites will again be operational. For the latest info, visit our HHW website.

Purchasing (AC)

For all Purchasing questions, please phone 262-548-7888.

Purchasing continues to accept Bids/RFPs electronically and by mail in accordance with the time deadlines noted in posted Bids/RFPs.

Recommended: We prefer responses submitted online or via US mail per Bid/RFP instructions. However, if you plan in-person drop-off of your bid, phone 262-548-7888 for up-to-date instructions; access to County buildings may change at any time.

Check often for amendments to Bids/RFPs that may alter due dates, schedules, etc. during this evolving situation.
