County Closes Emergency Warming Shelter

Waukesha County leaders made the decision to close the Emergency Warming Shelter at the Waukesha County Expo Center at 1000 Northview Rd., Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 6pm.

Officials opened the shelter at 4pm, Saturday, January 13, 2024.

The shelter served dozens of residents during the peak of power outages throughout the weekend. Officials were able to successfully relocate any remaining individuals at the shelter to nearby hotels, homeless shelters or other warming centers. 

By getting individuals who do not have a permanent residence to a homeless shelter, it allows them to connect with a case worker.
