Results of the Waukesha County Board of Supervisors Organizational Meeting


The first meeting of the 177th year of the Waukesha County Board of Supervisors took place on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. County Board Supervisors took the oath of office and welcomed new members: Larry Bangs (District 24), Darryl Enriquez (District 19), Brian Meier (District 17), Terry Thieme (District 10) and Matthew Weil (District 2). Jennifer Grant (District 5) and Robert Kolb (District 15) are re-joining the County Board after serving in previous years.

The board elected a County Board Chair, Vice-Chair, Second Vice-Chair and two additional members that will serve as committee chairs. The election results are as follows:

County Board Chair: Paul Decker. Decker has served on the County Board since 2009 and has served as County Board Chair since 2014. Decker represents the 13th Supervisory District which includes the Villages of Hartland and Nashotah and portions of the city of Delafield.

County Board Vice-Chair: Keith Hammitt. Hammitt served on the County Board from 2006-2008 and was re-elected to the County Board in 2012. Hammitt represents District 23 which includes portions of the City of Muskego and New Berlin. Hammitt has served on Public Works Committee since 2012.

County Board Second Vice-Chair: Jim Heinrich. Heinrich has served on the County Board since 2007. He chaired Land Use, Parks and Environment committee from 2012-14 and chaired Finance committee since 2014. Heinrich represents District 9 which includes portions of the City and Town of Brookfield.

At-Large Executive Committee Member: Larry Nelson. Nelson was elected to the County Board in 2012 and represents District 18 which includes portions of the City of Waukesha. Nelson served as chair of Human Resources Committee from 2016-2020 and is currently chair of the Health and Human Services Board.

At-Large Executive Committee Member: Jacob LaFontain. LaFontain was appointed to the County Board in 2020. LaFontain represents the 7th District which includes the Village of Butler, portions of the City of Brookfield and Village of Menomonee Falls.

In the coming weeks County Board Chair Decker will make committee assignments and the board will resume its regular meeting schedule in May.
