The Outdoor Classroom Series

Get outdoors with a naturalist and explore during our Outdoor Classroom series. These programs focus on seasonal topics and incorporate hands-on discovery and sensory exploration for your elementary-age learner. Each program is one hour in duration. Students must be accompanied by an adult. Programs will be mostly outdoors, so dress for the weather. Indoor activities may be incorporated in case of inclement weather.

Nature Exploration - Winter Furs - Animals need to stay warm in the winter and many do that with fur! We’ll explore different mammal furs and see how they work to keep animals warm. We’ll head outside on snowshoes to look for clues Retzer’s mammals may left behind, including tracks, scat and fur. * Snowshoe use is weather and trail condition dependent. A trail hike will replace snowshoeing if snow cover is not adequate.
