Governor Tony Evers has proclaimed May 2026 to be Aging, Disability, and Independent Living Network Professionals Appreciation Month in Wisconsin!
This month, we’re celebrating people who work at:
- Aging and disability resource centers.
- Area agencies on aging.
- County and Tribal aging units.
- Independent living centers.
- Tribal program partner agencies.
- Other partner agencies.
WHEREAS; Wisconsin residents of all ages, including aging and older adults and individuals
with disabilities, deserve to live with dignity, security, independence, and a positive quality of
life; and
WHEREAS; a robust network of aging and disability resource centers, independent living
centers, area agencies on aging, aging units, Older Americans Act program providers, and Tribal
program partners provides Wisconsinites with reliable and objective information and advice,
advocacy, and assistance to access services and supports throughout the course of their lives; and
WHEREAS; by helping individuals understand and evaluate options, make informed decisions,
and find local resources, and by offering important programs and services in communities,
Wisconsin’s aging, disability, and independent living network professionals streamline access to
resources, strengthen community connections, and create pathways to maximal health and well-being; and
WHEREAS; this network of professionals advocates for an age- and disability-friendly
Wisconsin, where programs and policies in education, research, public health, healthcare
systems, home and community-based care, public spaces, and workplaces serve and support all
individuals as they age and live with disabilities; and
WHEREAS; this month, the state of Wisconsin joins individuals and organizations across the
state, including the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, in celebrating aging, disability,
and independent living network professionals for their many contributions to communities across
the state;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Tony Evers, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, do hereby proclaim May 2026 as
AGING, DISABILITY, AND INDEPENDENT LIVING NETWORK PROFESSIONALS APPRECIATION MONTH throughout the State of Wisconsin and I commend this observance to all our state’s residents.
