Highway Construction Planned in Waukesha County

Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 7, 2025 on a Waukesha County Public Works project to rehabilitate the CTH EF (Hartling Road) bridge over the Bark River. The bridge is located approximately 0.5 miles east of CTH E in the Town of Merton. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-August, 2025. The project includes bridge deck overlay, concrete surface repairs, approach paving, and guardrail replacement. The construction project will be administered by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).

During construction, CTH EF near the bridge will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be detoured to the north using CTH E and CTH VV. Franchar Drive will be closed at the intersection with CTH EF. The Ice Age Trail along the Bark River in the vicinity of the bridge project will be closed for the duration of the project. The Ice Age Trail will be detoured to Dorn Road between Richter Road and Tamron Drive.
