Waukesha County owns a facility where collected household recyclables are sorted and shipped out to be made into new products.
Please note that this facility is only for use by commercial haulers and NOT county residents. Visitors can schedule a tour and get an informative presentation in the education room where they will learn many recycling facts, see the products made from recyclables and use our interactive displays.
To schedule a tour of the facility, please call the Waukesha County Recycling and Solid Waste office at (262) 896-8300 or email recycling@waukeshacounty.gov . Tours are by appointment only. See "Visit the MRF", for tour length and other information. Two-hour street parking is available in front of the building.
The Material Recycling Facility also hosts an 'open house' every Fall and Spring, usually held on the 2nd Saturday of November and the 3rd Saturday of April. Click here for information on this and other recycling events.
Volunteer Opportunities: Waukesha County Recycling is always looking for volunteers to be tour guides at our 'open house' events or in costume as "Recycle Raccoon" at 'open house' and community events. Please call 262-896-8300 if interested.
