Lake Country Trail:
Paving is scheduled to be complete by August 6th, however, the trail will not open until project completion, since construction crews and equipment will be on the trail completing shoulder restoration, warning fields at intersections, timber guard rails, signage, and centerline painting. Please watch the website for up-to-date information.
1.Wisconsin DOT Project - from Valley Road in Town of Summit to Milwaukee Street in Delafield, and from Glen Cove Road in Town of Delafield to the Golf Road Trailhead in Town of Pewaukee.
a. Contract Completion Date end of August.
b. Paving scheduled to begin on July 24, 2010.
c. These segments are signed as ‘closed’ until paving and restoration are complete for the safety of trail users.
2.Wisconsin DOT Project - State Hwy 83 Resurfacing project including re-alignment of the Lake Country Trail crossing to a signaled intersection for trail user safety.
a. Work is just beginning on this segment, but it’s anticipated that the existing trail will remain open until a 2 to 4 day period for regrading and paving the new trail alignment to meet the signaled intersection.
3.Waukesha County Project – Milwaukee Street in Delafield to the west end of the Hwy 83 intersection project and from the east end of the Hwy 83 intersection project to Glen Cove Road in Town of Delafield.
a. Currently in design, with anticipated construction to start the first week of September, 2010 and completion in late October, 2010.
These projects will improve portions of the the Lake Country Trail, a multi-purpose path, by widening to ten feet, leveling portions of the path, and resurfacing with asphalt. These improvements will bring the trail in compliance with State and Federal standards for bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
