Description

General Description of CSP

The Waukesha County Community Support Program (CSP), located within the Waukesha County Mental Health Center (MHCenter), provides treatment, rehabilitation, outreach and support services to persons with serious mental illness who live in the community. This is a state certified program. All individuals in CSP are assigned to a case manager who, along with the client and other support staff on the team, develop an individualized treatment or recovery plan. Program goals include reducing the incidence of inpatient stays, improving the client’s quality of life and independence in the community and promoting principles of recovery.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities for an Registered Nurse in CSP:
  1. Functions as a liaison between the staff psychiatrist and the case managers, clozapine management program, laboratories and pharmacies to insure that medication and medical issues are addressed in a timely fashion. Provides nursing consultation to unit staff.
  2. Provides direct services, including assessment, service facilitation, symptom management, crisis intervention and in some instances, psycho-educational groups. These services may be delivered on site at the MHCenter but may also take place at the client’s apartment or other community settings.
  3. Maintains consumer records, activity tracking and all documentation in accordance with Medical Assistance, Medicare and CSP licensing guidelines.
  4. Functions as a member of the nursing services team and monitors the physical health needs of consumers and assists with the administration of injectable medications, including a weekly clinic.
  5. Assures continuity of care for consumers by accessing indigency or insurance based medication programs and medication samples when needed. Oversees prior authorization procedures as required. Responds to calls from consumers, family members or pharmacies regarding prescription refills.

Description

Waukesha County Health and Human Services is recruiting for a full-time Psychiatrist to work in our outpatient services. The psychiatrist who assumes this position will provide medical oversight and consultation to treatment and recovery teams in our community Support Program, Comprehensive Community Services program, and Mental Health Day Treatment program and is responsible for the diagnosis, care, and treatment of psychiatric patients in these programs. Approximately 8 hours per week are assigned to direct service in the outpatient Mental Health Clinic. The staff psychiatrist participates in activities of the medical staff and in the systematic planning and review of health services of the department as assigned.

Educational requirements are possession of a degree from a recognized medical school; completion of an approved internship; completion of three years of approved residency training in psychiatry and possession of or eligibility to obtain a license to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin. Board certification in psychiatry or eligibility required.

The 2008 salary range for the Psychiatrist position is $138,809 - $170,707. Our benefit package includes vacation, holidays, sick time, health, dental and life insurance, CME time, deferred compensation program, professional liability insurance, retirement program and the opportunity for private practice on site.
