Updated - Temporary Closures: Lake Country Trail Maintenance 2015

American Transmission Company (ATC) will be replacing existing wires and structures along the Lake Country Trail. Portions of the trail will be closed through Summer 2015 to accommodate the movement of crews and equipment.

2015 WINTER TRAIL AND SLEDDING CONDITIONS 

Proper conditions for grooming ski trails vary depending on amount of snow, current temperatures, wind, etc. Waukesha County monitors these conditions regularly in order to ensure a timely start to the grooming process after or during a snow event. Once we have established packed and tracked trails, an update to the below information will follow. Thank you!    

Updated Tuesdays and Fridays by 5 pm starting November 25.

Cross-Country Ski Trail conditions as of Tuesday, March 3, 2015 

Park Conditions Base Trails are:
Menomonee Park Good 3" Open
Minooka Park Good 3" Open
Nashotah Park Good 3" Open

Reminders Fox River Park, Muskego Park, and Retzer Nature Center have packed trails only for use by hikers, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers. These trails will not be tracked. 

At Menomonee, Minooka, and Nashotah Parks, hikers must remain on designated trails.

Snowshoe Trails
There are no specific snowshoe trails. We ask that all snowshoers refrain from using the groomed ski trails, so we can keep them in the best condition possible. Please follow the signs.

Snowshoes are available to rent at Retzer Nature Center for:
$9.00 all day 
$5.50 half day

For trail conditions call the Waukesha County Snowmobile Association's Hotline at (414) 299-0330 or via their trail conditions website.  For information about snowmobile clubs in the Waukesha area, see the Waukesha County Snowmobile Association's website at www.waukeshasnow.org.

Winter Dog Walking Trails
Hiking is not allowed on cross country ski trails during winter months. All of the Waukesha County Parks have dog walking trails, as well as  Recreational Trails. (Sorry, no dogs allowed at Retzer Nature Center.) These trails are designated during the winter months to keep the groomed trails in the best condition possible. Follow the signs and stay on the designated trails.
Please be courteous to others and:
 - Pick up after your dog(s)
 - Keep your dog(s) leashed (6' maximum leash length)
