Payment & Refund Information

The Court views the obligation to pay fines, forfeitures, costs, surcharges, assessments, fees, restitution, and reimbursements seriously and expects payment in full on the day of imposition.

  • A photo I.D. (driver’s license or state I.D. card) must be presented when making a payment or applying for a refund.

  • To help ensure your payment has been processed accurately, please make sure you receive and review your receipt before you leave.


After Regular Office Hours:

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department will take payments after hours:

  • ONLY for citations,
  • issued by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department,
  • for which the original court date has NOT passed, and
  • if the party can present a copy of the ticket/citation.

Checks or money orders should be made payable to “Clerk of Circuit Court”.

CHECK POLICY: Checks are accepted for the payment of fines, fees, and restitution only. We do not accept checks for bail. Returned checks will be assessed a fee.

Refunds

Bail is ordered and refunded according to state statute and judicial order. If bail is to be returned, the refund will be made:

  • after disposition of the case,
  • only to the person who made the payment, and
  • within five (5) business days from the date it is authorized.
