Waukesha County received a 3-year grant extension (2017 through 2019) from the WI Dept. of Natural Resources to continue its Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) program that started in 2016.  The program is described in the grant and relies on an intergovernmental agreement that was executed with Washington County.  Some key elements of the AIS program include:

    • Sharing a full time AIS Coordinator with Washington County (50/50)
    • Employing a full time AIS Summer Intern in Waukesha County
    • Implementing the Clean Boats Clean Waters program at local boat launches
    • Installing AIS educational signs/boat cleaning stations on 5 county-owned boat launches
    • Compiling existing AIS data and collecting new data on local lakes

Waukesha County plans to expand this web site by including local AIS lake distribution maps, which are currently in development.  An electronic newsletter will be used as the primary method to communicate AIS program updates and events to local lake organizations and other interested county residents.  To subscribe to the Waukesha County AIS Newsletter, click here.  Some links to statewide AIS distribution maps are provided below.  To request an AIS educational presentation, report AIS issues, or for any questions about the AIS program, please contact:
