PATROL DIVISION

The Sheriff's Department has 124 uniformed professionals working 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the citizens of Waukesha County. The Patrol Division, which is the backbone of the Department, provides a safe and secure environment for residents, businesses and visitors to Waukesha County. Residents of Waukesha County benefit greatly from the high excellence of services provided by the department.

To ensure efficient utilization of resources, coverage is divided into five primary patrol areas; central, northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest, with deputies working out of the main office at the Waukesha County Courthouse and substations in the primary coverage areas. Coverage also includes I-94 and I-43 and the contract service areas of the Town and Village of Merton, Village of Sussex, Town of Delafield, Village of Waukesha, Town of Lisbon, Village of Vernon and the City of Pewaukee.

Additional patrol duties include transporting prisoners between various state and county correctional and mental health facilities and Waukesha County's jail and/or courts, direct service enforcement initiatives and specialized law enforcement services including:

  • Canine Support
  • Search and Recovery Dive Team
  • Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU)
  • Crisis and Hostage Negotiation

  • School Resource Officers (SROs)
  • Accident Reconstruction

OVERSIZED / OVERWEIGHT LOAD ESCORTS AVAILABLE
The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department Patrol Division also provides marked squad car escorts for oversized/overweight loads transported through Waukesha County. The escorts are done by uniformed deputy sheriffs on overtime and billed to the requester, so as not to deplete the normal patrol divisions.

If you wish to arrange an escort, you must contact the Patrol Division between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday at 262-548-7124 a minimum of twenty-four hours prior to the escort. It is the citizen's responsibility to obtain all permits, permissions and approved routes from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, local authorities and utilities. Permits should be secured prior to making arrangements for the escort.
