Jim received his Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration and Accounting from George Washington University.  He served as the accountant for the City of Cudahy. From 1996-2004 Jim served as an Alderman for the City of Brookfield.

During the time Jim has been a County Board Supervisor, he has also been CFO and Controller in the private sector, managing the Financial, Human Resources and Informational Technologies for a parent company and two wholly owned subsidiaries. 

Jim is a Licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Wisconsin, member of Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Mitchell Field.

Jim has four older siblings and four younger siblings. His hobbies include gardening, fishing, running, golfing, reading, and using his season tickets to Brewers' games and the Milwaukee Repertory Theater.
