Emergency Reception Center Volunteer 02/07/17

Summary:

An Emergency Reception Center, also called a Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) screens and organizes volunteers during a disaster. They are a critical component to managing a volunteer workforce in emergency response and recovery. Waukesha County is building a team of volunteers to help manage and run our VRC in times of emergency. Volunteers will assist with screening, interviewing, basic safety training and more. The VRC is activated as needed when a disaster arises. Waukesha County will contact our VRC Volunteer team and ask for your assistance in opening the VRC. Shift lengths will vary depending on the disaster or emergency. The location of the VRC will also be dependent on these factors but will be in Waukesha County.

All those interest should contact us for more information and to sign up for one of our trainings. Volunteers will be asked to attend minimally 2 trainings per year.

AODA Mentor 01/19/17

Summary:

Individuals are needed to assist with the AODA Speaker Program. AODA Volunteers are recovering people who regularly visit area facilities and reach out to those who are considering abstinence or are new in recovery. As a volunteer, you will partner with a veteran volunteer to visit these facilities to share your experience, strength and hope with men and women who suffer from alcoholism and other drug addictions.

Volunteer Guardian 04/18/16

Summary:

Help someone in need. Waukesha County is looking for volunteer guardians. A volunteer guardian is appointed by probate court to help make decisions for another adult who the court has determined incapable of making decisions for themselves. The person will not be responsible for making financial decisions but will assist with decisions concerning the person's well-being and safety. The volunteer must be 25 years of age or older, pass a criminal background check, submit a copy of current Wisconsin driver's license and proof of car insurance. Training and ongoing support provided.

Summary:

Receptionist volunteer will assist by sitting at the reception desk, answering phone calls, and greeting the public.

Dining Assistant 07/10/13

Summary: Dining assistants help pack meals for home delivery as well as set up, serve and clean up for in-house dining. Help is needed from 9:30-12:30. Help out once a week or twice a month.

Meal Driver 01/02/14

Summary: Help deliver a hot nutritious meal to homebound seniors over the lunch hour Monday- Friday. Drivers generally drive from 11:00-1:00 once a week or twice a month. Mileage reimbursement offered. Drivers must be a least 18 years of age, have a valid WI driver's license and proof of car insurance. A meal delivered with a smile can do amazing things for those we serve.

Greeter 04/08/13

Summary: Courthouse Greeters greet visitors and provide direction to offices and departments throughout the Waukesha County complex. Volunteers are needed Mondays and every other Thursday and Friday. Shifts are three hours in length.

Summary:

The Waukesha County Park System has volunteer opportunities for various groups and organizations that would like to volunteer in the parks.

Teacher Naturalist 11/01/12

Summary:

Assist Retzer Nature Center Staff Naturalists with environmental education programs for school and scout groups. Programs are held at Retzer Nature Center and occasionally at other County Park locations.

Volunteer Leaders to promote health & wellness 05/02/12

Summary: Workshop Leaders facilitate evidence based programs such as Matter of Balance, Healthy Eating for Successful Living, Boost Your Brain, Stepping On, Powerful Tools for Caregivers, Living Well with Chronic Conditions, and Healthy Living with Diabetes. Training and mileage reimbursement provided. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone comfortable with promoting health and wellness.
