A nature experience awaits children on this hike. Explore the sensory wonders of the outdoors while observing and comparing spring insects, flowers, and other treasures. Participants must be accompanied by an adult. Register by Friday, April 19.

A Wealth of Nature presented by Eddee Daniel

Recommended for ages 8+

6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Learn about the abundance of nature and recreational opportunities throughout the six-county region of Southeastern Wisconsin at this stunning visual program. Discover local adventures, ideas about nature and parks, and information about how to preserve and protect them. To learn more, visit www.awealthofnature.org.

Spring Bird Walk Recommended for ages 13+

Wednesday, April 24

8:00 - 10:00 a.m.

Join our conservation biologist for a bird survey at Retzer Nature Center! We will be walking the hiking trails through the park identifying, counting, and recording all bird species seen and heard. While birding, you'll learn fun facts about Retzer's unique landscape and the species that call it home.

RAPTORS presented by the Wildlife in Need Center Recommended for ages 5+

Thursday, April 25

6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

See and learn about these beautiful birds as naturalists from the Wildlife in Need Center showcase a few of their captive birds. To learn more about this organization, visit www.helpingwildlife.org.

Sunset Candlelight Hike presented by the Waukesha County CHIPP Action Team   All ages

Thursday, April 25

7:30-9:00 p.m.

Join Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow for a self-guided walk on the Nature Center trails. Candles will light the way after dusk. Part of the "Live Well Waukesha County" initiative.

Morning Bird Hike presented by Benjamin Goss Bird Club Recommended for ages 8+

Explore the birds of one of the rarest wetland plant communities in Wisconsin: Brown's Fen.

Where does paper go after putting it in the recycling cart and how does it get recycled into new paper? Learn the process and make your own recycled paper to take home. We'll use techniques similar to a paper mill. 

Recommended for ages 5+ (accompanied by an adult)

Volunteer Service Project 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Join Retzer Nature Center staff in volunteer projects, which include invasive species removal and spreading wood chips on trails.

Must be 14 years of age or older.

Dynamic Earth planetarium show 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (every 30 minutes)

This high-resolution full-dome production, narrated by actor Liam Neeson, explores the inner workings of Earth's climate system. This cutting-edge production follows a trail of energy that flows from the Sun into the interlocking systems that shape our climate: the atmosphere, oceans, and the biosphere.

Recommended for ages 5+
