Phenology Hikes

Phenology Hikes

Come out and help Waukesha County Parks identify what is growing, blooming, flying, and crawling around the parks throughout the year. This part of an ongoing Citizen Science Phenology (the study of cyclic and seasonal natural phenomena, especially in relation to climate and plant and animal life) project on iNaturalist.org (Wild in Waukesha). Join Wisconsin Master Naturalist Kevin Hanley to monitor various locations once a month over the spring and summer.

Bring your camera or phone and add to the observations on iNaturalist of our parks. Prior to the hike, please sign-up for a free iNaturalist.org account and join the Wild in Waukesha project so that your observations will count.

Recommended for ages 18+ or adults with children (13+). A Parks annual membership or daily permit is required for each vehicle entering a fee-based park.

What to wear: Dress for the weather and being outdoors! Surveys may occasionally wander off trail into natural areas and tall grass. Close-toed shoes and long pants are recommended.
What to bring: Water, bug spray, and be sure to bring your camera or phone! Create an account on iNaturalist and join the Wild in Waukesha project!
Cancellation or rescheduling plan: If the hike is cancelled, an email will be sent to the address that you registered from.
