Interested in running for an elected office?

On April 7, 2020 there will be a Presidential Preference Primary as well as an election for a number of different non-partisan races. If needed, a primary will be held on February 18, 2020 for non-partisan contests. The Waukesha County Clerk's office is the filing agency for County races.  This Spring all Waukesha County Supervisor seats will be on the ballot as well as three area multi-jurisdictional judge races.  In the Fall, County Constitutional officer seats will be on the ballot, including - County Clerk, District Attorney, Register of Deeds, and Treasurer.  If you are interested in running for a municipal position, such as a seat on your city council or town supervisor, you should contact your local municipal clerk.  If you are interested in running for a school board seat you will need to contact the school district clerk.

Waukesha County Supervisor Candidacy information

All Waukesha County Board of Supervisor seats are up for election in April, 2020.  Please click here for Supervisory Districts.  A candidate for the office of county board supervisor shall be a qualified elector of his/her supervisory district at least ten (10) days prior to the earliest time for the commencement of the circulation of nominating papers.  Please click here for the County Board's operating procedures and rules.     File when Candidacy publicly announced or when expending/receiving funds for candidacy.

    December 1, 2019 is the first day to circulate nomination papers.  Candidates need 50 - 200 valid signatures.

Multi-jurisdictional Municipal Judge Candidacy Information

Please see information below for Multi-jurisdictional Municipal Judge filing requirements and Multi-Jurisdictional Municipal Judge Candidate filing status.  There are three multi-jurisdictional muncipal judgeships up for election in April of 2020:

  • City Of Oconomowoc and the Towns of Delafield, Lisbon, Merton, Oconomowoc ad Ottawa, Villages of Chenequa, Dousman, Hartland, Lac La Belle, Merton, Nashotah, Oconomowoc Lake, Summit, and Sussex in Waukesha County; Towns of Ixonia and Sullivan, Villages of Johnson Creek, Lac La Belle, and Sullivan in Jefferson County; and Town of Erin in Washington County
  • Towns of Eagle and Mukwonago, Village of Eagle and North Prairie in Waukesha County
  • Town of Waukesha and Village of Big Bend in Waukesha County
