Dave Swan is married with two adult sons. He earned a BS from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and an MS from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Curriculum and Instruction. He has lived in Waukesha County most of his life. He is currently a director of the Waukesha Farm Bureau. He has a crop farm in the City of Pewaukee, specializing in homegrown sweet corn.

Dave began serving as a County Board Supervisor in 2000. From 1999 until 2003, he served on the City of Pewaukee Council. Appointed to the City of Pewaukee Public Works Commission in 2008, he still holds the position. Dave was appointed to the Wisconsin County Association (WCA) Public Works Oversight Committee in 2012, and elected to the Wisconsin County Highway Association (WCHA) Board of Directors for the South Eastern District in 2010. He still holds both of these positions.  Dave was also recently on the 50th Anniversary committee for University of Wisconsin-Waukesha and he is passionate about their opportunities for students.

Recognized for 15 years of service on the Waukesha County Agriculture and Extension Education Committee, Dave was presented the award at the Wisconsin Associated County Extension Committees, Inc. (WACEC) annual recognition ceremony during the Wisconsin Counties Association Conference held in La Crosse.
