Department of Parks & Land Use: Volunteer Services
Volunteering with the Waukesha County Department of Parks & Land Use is a great opportunity for you to enjoy the outdoors while giving back to the community. The mission of the Department of Parks & Land Use states: “Working through a combination of recreation, education, public cooperation, and regulation, we are dedicated to fostering the protection, wise use, enhancement and enjoyment of the County’s cultural and natural resources, and the health of its citizens.” Please consider joining us in accomplishing our mission!
The Park System Division consists of 8 parks, 2 Ice Arenas, 3 Golf Courses, Retzer Nature Center, and the Exposition Center. We also have volunteer opportunities for groups at special events throughout the year. Specific project needs vary depending on the time of year and the current projects going on within the Park System. In general, the need is for natural land management work involving basic hand tools (shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, etc). Samples of previous projects include: tree/brush/flower plantings, trail wood chipping, invasive species removal, and park clean up projects.
Additional opportunities are available in the Recycling and Land Resources Divisions, including assisting at the MRF with recycling programs and stenciling storm drains.
The Waukesha County Park System has volunteer opportunities for various groups and organizations that would like to volunteer in the parks.
