Title: AODA Mentor
Individuals are needed to assist with the AODA Speaker Program. The program works with clients who have alcohol, drug dependency and other addictions. AODA Volunteers are recovering people who regularly visit area facilities (Waukesha County Jail, Waukesha County Huber Facility, Lawrence Treatment Center, Waukesha County Alcohol Education Series, Waukesha County Mental Health Center, and the Century House half-way house) and reach out to those who are considering abstinence or are new in recovery. As a volunteer, you will partner with a veteran volunteer to visit these facilities to share your experience, strength and hope with men and women who suffer from alcoholism and other drug addictions. This can be a very rewarding opportunity. It will give you a chance to make a difference in someone's life. And the positive impacts on the community are immeasurable. Our program gets people back to work, strengthens families, reduces domestic violence and prevents dependency-related accidents and illness.
The volunteers carry the message to the alcoholics and drug addicts who still suffer, and to the community at-large. We carry the message in many small, subtle, but powerful ways. These quiet behaviors help rebuild confidence and change behaviors so that recovering men and women can become productive members of society.

Waukesha County is building a team of volunteers to help manage and run our VRC in times of emergency. Volunteers will assist with screening, interviewing, basic safety training, and more. The VRC is activated as needed when a disaster arises. Waukesha County will contact our VRC Volunteer team and ask for your assistance in opening the VRC. Title: Teen Court Volunteer
Location: Juvenile Court, Waukesha
Do you enjoy working with youth? Do you like the role of mentor, or teacher? And do you have an interest in either helping our youth learn about our justice program, have an interest in law, or an interest in civics? Then this might be the perfect opportunity for you!
Waukesha County operates a Teen Court- an alternate justice program for youth offenders based on the restorative justice model. In this court, teens who have commited offenses plead guilty, and then present their case to a jury of their peers. Other teens take on the role of prosecutor, defender, clerk of courts, jury foreman, and jury. The jury decides the consequences. We have been operating this program for over 10 years with a lot of success. The teens themselves are less likely to reoffend, they have a great opportunity for education, and they learn about the consequences of their actions.
We have a great team that have kept out Teen Court going strong for many years. And now we are seeking additional volunteer assistance to make it even more successful! Overall, volunteers main task is to help the court process run smoothly. Main tasks include checking in teens as they arrive; help prepare teens for their roles which may include helping to create opening and closing arguments; and help answer questions to participants and guide them through the process. The program supervisor will always be on hand to answer questions.
We are seeking a responsible volunteer dedicated and committed to this process. Teen Court meets twice monthly throughout the majority of the year, and monthly in the summer and December. Shifts are on specific Thursdays from 4:45-7:00. We ask for minimally one shift per month.
For more information on what our process looks like please view our Youtube Video on Teen Court: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5wrx0FBEBM
We are seeking 2-3 volunteers to assist with our monthly bulk mailing project. The project usually lasts 2-3 hours, less the more assistance we have!
