    Have a yard or garden question? Call or e-mail our Horticulture Helpline. This free service allows callers to speak with a trained Master Gardener Volunteer regarding plant, bug or soil questions by phone or email. Telephone hours for the Horticulture Helpline vary by season. Voice mail is available, but answers may take up to seven days.

  • Diagnosing Plant Problems

    Let a UW-Extension Horticulture Educator identify your plant or plant problem. Bring your plant sample or plant insect pest to the UW-Extension office during regular business hours of 8 AM – 4:30 PM. This service is available to the general public.

    There is a $4 charge for this service and diagnostics may take up to seven days. 

    For instructions on collecting a "good sample," please call or e-mail the Horticulture Helpline at (262) 548-7779 (see above for hours). You can also e-mail questions to uwex1@waukeshacounty.gov.

    We do not identify home insects pests in the office. Please use the Home Insect Identification form below and send it to the lab in Madison free of charge.

  • Soil Testing

    Having soil problems? Need to know what to add to your soil to make things grow? Have your soil tested by the UW Soil & Forage Analysis Lab in Marshfield for $15.

    What You Get

    - Analysis of the current nutrient content of your soil
    - Current soil pH
    - Recommendation of type and amount of fertilizer to add
