A Couple Final Tasks
Now that winter is over, a couple final bits of work have just been scheduled to start May 2 and wrap up May 11 (tentative):
• Removal and replacement of defective materials in a few locations (eg. curb & gutter, sidewalk, asphalt)
• Retaining wall work / staining
• Minor landscaping and restoration
• Project clean-up
Impacts to your commute: Occasional lane mini-closures (ie. nothing that spans the entire project length). Thanks for keeping an eye out for our teams in work zones.

2021 Project Work Completed
Starting Thursday Dec 16, North Ave from Calhoun Rd to 124th St will reopen with two lanes of traffic in each direction. A summary of the 2020 and 2021 phases of this project:
• Reconstruction of three miles of North Avenue (County M) from a two-lane roadway into a four-lane divided highway
• New pavement structure, curb and gutter, curb and gutter, and additional sidewalk
• Storm sewer improvements, including three retention ponds
• Upgraded intersections along the corridor to improve safety standards
• Replacement and installation of existing and new traffic signals at Calhoun, Pilgrim, and Lilly roads, and 124th Street
• Bridge constructed over the Underwood Creek

Still to come Spring 2022: Minor restoration work and retaining wall staining. Please expect a few short-term lane closures.

The second and final phase of our North Ave Reconstruction project -- from Marilyn Drive to 124th Street -- has now begun, as utility companies relocate their facilities before we get in there to start the next period of reconstruction.
