Waukesha County Department of Public Works
The Waukesha County Adopt a Highway Program is administered by the Waukesha County Highway Operations Division located at 1641 Woodburn Road, Waukesha, WI 53188.
The program is designed to encourage local groups, i.e., schools, scout troops, business and civic organizations, churches, families, etc., to “adopt” a 2 mile section of County Highway. Three times a year from April 1 - November 1 the group agrees to clean their adopted section of County right-of-way and place the bags of refuse along the highway for removal by County Highway trucks. The group may keep any of the recyclable materials. All participants shall be at least 11 years of age or in the 6th grade.
There is no charge to the Group. The County provides the Adopt a Highway Program sign with the Group’s name, garbage bags and safety vest.
