The Waukesha District Attorney's Victim/Witness Assistance Program provides the following services:
- Information about how the criminal justice system works
- Specific information and updates on the case concerning the crime victim, including case progress and disposition
- Escort to court appearances
- Notification of suspect escape, release from custody from the county jail, eligibility of parole from the prison system or mental institution
- Notification of parole hearings
- Employer intercession
- Assistance to apply for Crime Victim Compensation Program
- Assistance with release of property held as evidence
- Assistance to apply for restitution from the defendant
- Assistance with collecting witness fees
- Assistance to prepare for testifying
- Emotional support
- Assistance to prepare a Victim Impact Statement prior to sentencing
- Information and referral to sources of counseling, medical treatment, legal assistance, housing and energy services, support groups, etc.
- Assistance to obtain restraining orders
- Notice of court hearing cancellations and rescheduling
- A safe and secure waiting area while attending court proceedings

Families and Friends of Homicide Victims Program
This program is funded by the Victims Of Crime Act (VOCA). It provides emotional support services to facilitate adjustment to loss. The program publishes a newsletter twice annually and sponsors a support group for survivors of homicide victims. The support group meets every month for eight months and there is no charge to participants and no Waukesha County residency requirement. The newsletter is distributed free of charge to survivors and includes articles on legislation of interest to this audience as well as articles about adjustment to grief and loss. A ceremony is held in remembrance of deceased victims during the holiday season and there is no charge to participants.
Mobile Victim Assistance Program
This program is funded by the Victims Of Crime Act (VOCA). It provides information and support at the scene of a crime by a Victim Assistance Social Worker and a trained community volunteer. Referrals are provided by law enforcement professionals who have responded to the crime scene. The team provides crisis counseling, information and referral and emotional support. The Mobile Victim Assistance Program is available 24 hours a day.
