Waukesha County provides funding and resources through a cooperative agreement to assist K—12 public & private county schools with land conservation projects, including:
1. School Recycling Assistance
2. School Lab Chemical Disposal & Safety
3. School Grounds & Water Conservation: Erosion control, Stormwater
Management, Organic Turf Management
4. School Conservation Service-Learning Projects
Each school can receive a maximum of $3000 per 3-year period. There is no application deadline. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis contingent upon availability of county funds. Eligible costs must be approved by the county before purchase. Some purchases are made by the county directly. Any pre-approved invoices generated by the school are submitted to the county from the school, district, or vendor for payment.
Participation in this program will also help meet some of the requirements of the Wisconsin DNR/DPI Green & Healthy Schools Program if the school decides to pursue certification.
