WOOD

Most hauling/recycling companies will take wood – either separated from or commingled with other materials for recycling.   Clean, untreated wood can be recycled or chipped for ground cover.  Call your local municipality or curbside hauler first.  If they do not take wood, either arrange with a private hauler or use one of the privately-owned landfills listed below. 

Railroad ties are pretreated and can not be recycled as wood chips.   Call your local municipality or curbside hauler first.  If they can't help you, either arrange with a private hauler or use one of the privately-owned landfills listed below.

The two privately-owned landfills in Waukesha County, which will accept most materials for a fee are:
