Winter Dog Walking Trails
Hiking is not allowed on cross country ski trails during winter months.  All of the Waukesha County Parks (sorry, dogs are not allowed on Retzer Nature Center grounds) have dog walking trails, as well as the Recreational Trails. These trails are designated during the winter months to keep the groomed trails in the best condition possible. Follow the signs and stay on the designated trails.
Please be courteous to others and:
     Pick up after your dog(s)
Keep your dog(s) leashed (6' maximum leash length)

Dog Exercise Areas -
Minooka Park and Nashotah Park have off-leash dog exercise areas.

As of March 11, Nashotah and Minooka dog exercise areas
will be temporarily closed to protect and maintain the turf.

The exercise area will reopen once the frost is sufficiently out of the ground and the turf firms up.  Staff will check the areas daily and reopen when conditions improve. Please check back, we will post when they reopen.

Dogs are also allowed within any of the Waukesha County Parks provided dogs are licensed, leashed and owners clean up and properly dispose their pet’s feces.  There is no extra fee to use the area, it is included in the park entrance fee.  View the maps.

Minooka Park -
The small breed area is 3.8 acres and the large breed area is 11.9 acres.

Nashotah Park -
The small breed area is 6 acres and the large breed area is 8.75 acres.

Snowshoe Trails
There are no specific snowshoe trails.  We ask that all snowshoers refrain from using the groomed ski trails, so we can keep them in the best condition possible. Please follow the signs.

Snowshoes are available to rent at Retzer Nature Center for:
$9.00 all day
$5.50 half day
For more information please call (262) 896-8007.
