Waukesha County is dedicated to providing education on recycling and waste reduction to all county residents.
The County has provided recycling education to over 20,000 people since 2007 through presentations, workshops, demonstrations and more!

Field Trips to the Recycling Facility
Waukesha County provides free education programs at the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF), including plant tours and visits to the education room for programming and activities.
Visits are available for all age groups from 4-year old pre-school/kindergarten to adult. All groups participate in programming in our education room, which has observation windows overlooking the plant floor for optimal viewing. Sixth grade students and older may do a walking tour of the plant operations.
Tours and visits are available - by appointment only - on weekdays, generally between 8am and 6pm. Minimum group sizes apply. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, email us at recycling@waukeshacounty.gov or call 262-896-8312.

Are you interested in our education programs, but unable to schedule a visit to the recycling facility? We can bring our programming to you!
Special programming is available for individual school classrooms or school assemblies, community organizations, churches, clubs, special events and more. Minimum group sizes apply.

Spring/Fall Family Open Houses
Twice a year, the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) is opened up for touring by family members of all ages. Residents are invited to come see what happens to recyclables from processing to products with a full facility tour.
Open Houses are held 2 Saturday mornings a year from 10am - noon in mid-April and mid-November. The address of the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) is 220 S. Prairie Ave., Waukesha WI 53186.
